Designing Your Landscape

Evaluating your yard to determine whether it has some landscape elements or none at all, can be a daunting task; particularly for the beginner gardener. If you are just starting out and are not feeling secure with how to landscape your home, spend some time, leisurely driving around different neighborhoods. See what homes and landscaped spaces appeal to you. Take photos, if possible. This will send you off on a great visual start. There are many styles of landscaping; contemporary, traditional, cottage, and more. Ask yourself - would you prefer a good mix of various plant types: evergreen and deciduous trees, perennials, annuals, vines, and shrubs with four-season interest? Or, would you rather have a more subtle landscape palate. Study tree specimens. Look Depth and height of shrubberies. Consider your neighbors. Then move forward with zest, and select the plant types which bring you the most visual pleasure.
